Hello, hey, and hi everyone!
In today’s post I was originally going to be recounting my friends’, my friend’s family’s, and my second day in the Great Smoky Mountains.
But then I decided to do something that is not that: address the increasingly strange spam comments I’ve been getting on my posts.
So what’s the deal with these spam comments?
I knew that when I started this blog, there would inevitably be spam bots trying to attack my website via the comments section, or whatever it is that spam bots do.
What I didn’t know, however, is what those spam comments would look like.
I am at a disadvantage here because I don’t have any real traffic on this site (yet!) and subsequently, no real people are commenting on my posts. As a result, I am desperate for these comments to be from real people, and some of them do a pretty good job of tricking me by sounding like legit, real life humans!

Aww a compliment! it’s really too bad they couldn’t come up with a name more convincing that “n95 mask”
Thankfully, the Askimet antispam plugin filters these tricksters out before the hack into my IP address or whatever.
Most of the time, though, I can tell which comments are spam because they either: a) contain a grotesque number of skeezy-looking links, b) compliment the content of the post without actually addressing anything in the post, c) are trying to sell me viagra, or d) trying to sell me “100% free and legal CBD oil !!!!!”
For example:

Super insightful, thanks robots!
But lately, these guys crossed the line. These hooligans have been trying to appeal to my pathos by INSULTING my super-amazing writing skillz, and let me tell ya, I am not taking this lying down!

The nerve of these guys! feat. example ‘C’ from above
So if you’re reading this spam bots: I don’t believe you, my writing is fantastic, I’m not checking out your stupid malware-filled links, and your comments are going right into the garbage can.
Anyways, if you’re waiting for me to get to the point, there is none. Sorry.
I just get a kick out of all of these spam comments and wanted to share them with you. I’ll also add more screenshots of them to this post if I get any funny ones later.
But never fear, I will be patiently awaiting the day that I get my first ever real comment from a real life person.
Until then, see ya!
