Hi reader!
Wow, after 4 years of this blog existing I finally got to the about page.
Are you proud? Annoyed? That’s valid.
Who are you?
My name is WTB, which stands for ‘worst travel blogger’. I don’t use my real name because I’m shy and it would make me self conscious.
I grew up in Missouri, the most unremarkable of the United States. Just kidding, Missouri isn’t terrible, I just say it is for the bit 🙂
First I graduated high school, then I went to college, after that I took a bombastic gap year, and right now I’m in medical school. That sounds like the opposite of what an aspiring world traveler would want to do. But I’m happy to say the balance between fun/spontaneity and stability/studiousness has been difficult, but not impossible to maintain. And I love it!
What does that have to do with traveling or blogging?
I’m getting there, sheesh!
Why a travel blog?
Well first, it was because I read the blogs ‘Hyperbole and a Half’ and ‘Where’s Sharon’ obsessively as a kid. I wanted to be an amalgamation of both of them.
Then I realized it was more than that.
So one thing about me: I like pretty much everything. I’m a life lover. not in a creepy way or anything, just in a simple hippie kinda way. And traveling is a great way to enjoy “pretty much everything” life has to offer: nature, history, food, drinks, people (in doses, I am an introvert after all), adventure, risk, comfort, learning, laughing, crying, thinking, yada yada yada.
I think it would be easier to just list the things I don’t like:
- Monotony
- Hard boiled eggs
- Biting insects
- Minions
- Injustice
- The show Monsters Inside Me
- < 6 hours of sleep
- Hazelnut coffee creamer
- Temperatures below -10*F
- A predictable life
- The sound of scratching paper
Yeah that’s about it, comprehensively.
Why the worst travel blog ever?
Because a lot of people are already really good at this. Too good.
When I was 15 and just started writing posts, I wanted this to be a travel blogging business. At about 20, I realized that that was gonna suck all of the fun out of blogging for me.
So the name ‘worst travel blog ever’ takes off the pressure to be the ‘best travel blog ever’ and gives me room to have a lot of fun with this website, as I’m sure you can tell in the circular ramblings and MS paint drawings that litter its posts.
Where did you come from? Where are you going next?
The “My Trips” tab under “Blog” gives a mostly comprehensive timeline of all my travels past, present and future. Give it a look if you’re brave 😉

Anyways, how’d I do?
Was that a good about page?
Was it worth the 4 year wait?
That’s up for you to decide.
But I think I deserve a medal.
Hopefully this has enticed you to keep reading my blog forever.
If not, oh well, you can’t say I didn’t try a little bit.
Love ya!
WTB
